ICC Workforce Equity Initiative Program

This initiative focuses on developing our area’s workforce by providing participants with a credential and a living wage. It addresses high demand-careers and targets low-income individuals, those living in high crime and high poverty areas, unemployed individuals and minorities. Several areas of training are available:

Manufacturing.

1. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) The average annual salary for CNC Machinists is $34,694.40. The entry-level annual salary is $29,265.60.

2. Welding The average annual salary for welders is $38,459.20. The entry-level annual salary is $33,800.00

Transportation. Truck Driving At the end of this non-credit certificate program, you’ll take the Illinois Secretary of State’s Class A road test. The average annual salary for truck drivers is $37,772.80. The entry-level annual salary is $30,139.20.

Information Technology.

  1. LAN Technician. This certificate is 18 credit hours, which participants can complete in approximately one semester at ICC before acquiring an entry-level job in information technology. The average annual salary for LAN technicians is $70,553.60. The entry-level annual salary is $55,806.40.

  2. CompTIA/A+ This is a four-week course. Participants who complete the course are provided a voucher for the certification exam and practice exams. The average annual salary for CompTIA A+ graduates is $42,889.60. The entry-level annual salary is $34,652.80.

  3. CompTIA/Network+ This is an eight-week course. Participants who complete the course are provided a voucher for the certification exam and practice exams. The average annual salary for network administrators is $55,286.40. The entry-level annual salary is $44,865.60.

    Health Careers.

    1. Emergency Medical Technician EMT Completion of the EMT Program can result in an EMT-B industry certification. The average annual salary for EMTs is $27,622.40. The entry-level annual salary is $23,233.60.

    2. Paramedic Completion of the Paramedic program can result in EMT-P industry certification.

      The average annual salary for paramedics is $34,320.00. The entry-level annual salary is $27,289.60.

 Heart of Illinois 2-1-1 maintains a comprehensive database of local health and human care programs, as well as volunteer opportunities, in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, Putnam, and Stark counties. Examples of information and services in the 2-1-1 system include:

  • food, shelter, clothing

  • rent and utility assistance

  • physical and mental health services

  • employment preparation and job matching

  • transportation assistance

  • home-delivered meals

  • child care and after-school programs

  • and much more
